i’m really starting to suspect what the producers of the amazing race do to get the “drama” they think they need to make the show. are the non-elimination legs really pre-determined before the race starts (or just pre-determined as before the last team checks in). are detours or roadblocks designed to help some teams while hindering others? this season just seems a little too contrived for some reason.

speaking of hippy weirdo’s…how about plain old smelly weirdo’s? i got dragged off to an antique fair on sunday….
wow, its amazing the amount of crap and junk that people will hold onto in the faint hope that it might be worth something. matchboxes (from some no name restaurants scattered around the country), old dolls that are fallen apart (no to mention the pedophile looking dude selling them), expo 86 souvenirs, gawd…i almost expected to find old willie nelson 8-track cartridges…
so imagine a gymnasium full of above mentioned old musty stinky stuff, journey playing on the PA, crowds of people who don’t seem to shower or wash their clothes, and possibly half a dozen leaking Depends undergarments and you can get a sense of the torture that was my Sunday morning.
oh and senior citizens have sharp elbows. they bump and barge like nobody’s business. i got taken the f out.
EPIC
the enviro-friendly sustainable blah blah fair took place this past weekend and we went to go check it out. what a waste of money. i’d say 1/3 hippy weirdo booths, 1/3 big corps putting on a brave face, 1/3 actually useful or interesting booths.
the only thing i was interested in was the Green Works building supply co but they’re like a block from my office and i’ve been walking by them almost everyday, just been too lazy to actually walk in and browse.
the most embarrassing part of the show had to be their so-called fashion show. only 6 models (including one girl who walked like a parade horse), maybe 10 brands (2-3 of which were accessory brands), dragged out over 15-20 minutes. gag. doesn’t Karl pull out like 100 different looks in 20 minutes?
on a side note, found out the Waterfront Centre has a “La Torilleria”. looks the same as the whistler one but don’t know if its the same chain or not. regardless the chicken taco salad was damn fine.

time waster
ahhh…the good old days of simple side scrolling gaming. fun little flash game to kill some time. love the art style.
not nearly as frustrating as Zelda which has sucked up quite a bit of my time lately (on my second set of batteries for the wii-mote). its now become more of a finish it because i’ve started it rather than actually enjoying it but TVs been sucking lately and its a good way to procrastinate on all the real things i’m supposed to be doing.
but goddamn if the stupid save bugs in that game don’t make me want to kill. if you save in the middle or even right before the end, you have to start at the beginning again. and then there was some other little bug that erased a bunch of the items i had collected. almost makes me want to play Doom or some such game… i said almost…

Casino Royale comes out on DVD tomorrow and when i saw it in the theater, the most memorable scene for me was when that poor Aston Martin DBS bit the dust. I do love my expensive British sportscars…
Anyhoo… nice little article about what was required to pull off that stunt as well as some pictures of the aftermath of the stunt car. Apparently they set a Guinness record with 7!!! flips and the stunt driver walked away unhurt.
