been watching the season premiere of season 6 of 24. it just keeps getting better. i figured the concept was tapped out but somehow it just keeps getting more intense. yes, they’re taking a little more liberty with the concept (eg. terrorist getting across LA and changing clothes in 10 minutes…yeah right) but once you ignore those inconsistencies its pretty insane. like what other tv series detonates a nuclear bomb in LA?!?!?! i need the next episode stat!

i still haven’t dragged myself out to go see Borat. i will soon though, same with the Departed. i’m very much looking forward to Casino Royale though. the most recent ones were getting pretty cheesy but this is supposed to be a grittier dirtier Bond so i’m excited. plus its got a 95% on rottentomatoes.com
the new Jay-Z is pretty dope. nothing ground-breaking but pretty good overall. two really bad R&B tracks in there though.
OK…i’m going to admit it. Heroes kicks ass. probably taken over top spot for tv show most determined not to miss since Lost has taken to sucking lately. call me a geek but its a good story with good characters and its a story well told. the fact that they have superpowers is secondary. but Lost…would Jack and Juliet hurry up and get it on already. Kate’s a royal pain, the addition of the two new characters is just begging for them to be killed any second now. and now no new eps until Feb? WTF?!?!?! oh and caridee or amanda is going to win this cycle of ANTM. and thank god team alabama is out of the Amazing Race. i’m surprised by how well the cheerleaders are doing, i hope they make it to the final 3.

i got dragged out to a farm yesterday. why? because my girlfriend thought it would be a wonderful idea to drive to the country (aka South Surrey) and visit a farm (a smelly dirty place filled with diseased animals and poo everywhere) to pick up an authentic (flash frozen imported from china) pumpkin to make jack-o-lanterns. ever see the movie the matrix and the scene where Agent Smith has Morpheus tied to a chair and talks about the stink of humankind…well that’s how i feel. blah.
at least she’s a good artist and stole my idea and made “dia de los muertos” inspired pumpkins. they actually look really cool but our house still smells like rotting gourds.
while she was busy carving away, i kept myself in the halloween spirit by watching 7 episodes of Treehouse of Horror on DVD.
amazing race 10
the new season kicked off this past sunday. gotta say ol phil is looking a little “botox-y”. tsk tsk. the teams seem kinda interesting. love the slack-jawed-yokels team. nice change of pace.
off the start i was hoping somebody would slip on the wet grass in seattle but alas, everybody was too surefooted. nice to get them off to a foreign country right away. but china and the damn great wall again. i think the show has gone there every other season.
i’m a little disappointed that the cheerleaders didn’t pick up the dance routine a little quicker. they are cheerleaders after all but i guess they were up against gay dudes.
the chick with the prosthetic leg. lame. the chinese meatheads? please. “i can feel my forearms burn” gag. where’s the slap on the butt.
my prediction? too early to predict right now, although i’m rooting for the cheerleaders cause they’re good looking and they’re seem smarter than the beauty pageant girls.

due to that damn wonderful girlfriend of mine, i’ve developed an addiction to project runway. i downloaded all the eps to date of season 3 and we’ve been catching up over the past few days.
its kinda scary ’cause i’m at the point now where i have a reasonably good grasp of good and bad fashion design. i know a lot of the different construction techniques and names. combine that with the fact that i’ve been using her fashion mags as bathroom reading material i can now occasionally tell at a glance what season/designer an outfit is from. it got so bad that the other day, having lunch with an equally fashion-savvy co-worker out in richmond, i commented on how a passer-by’s outfit would look so much better with a pair of flats. oeuf.
but back to project runway. just finished up episode six last night. that hippy freak angela needs to go…and like stat. laura is the zoolander of fashion (can you say ‘one look’). vincent is also a freak and should hook up with angela and go live on a commune somewhere. robert looks like an ultimate fighter and should design wrestling outfits.micheal’s got some cool shit but i was sad to see allison go, cause she seems like a sweetheart. now that she’s gone i don’t know who to root for.

so if you’ve been watching lost (if you haven’t you’re missing out) then you know about the dharma initiative videos. well if you were really paying attention, you would have noticed some of the commercials that aired during episodes of Lost that were for the hanso foundation. well these were all little games that tied into the show and were part of a bigger game/viral marketing thing in real life.
