i’m sitting in Denver Airport killing time waiting for my flight home. i decided to park myself at the gate for NYC in some kind of wishful hope that they’ll take me there instead.
the past week has been exhausting. thin air combined with constant alcohol and snowboarding takes its toll on you. i can’t wait to get home. i don’t think i got a decent night’s sleep the whole trip. oeuf.
so what happened while i was away?

there’s not much oxygen in colorado. vail is too high up, makes riding difficult. however i did finally get to do a lap with Jake Burton today. woohoo!

well things are finally starting to wind down. its been over 4 weeks and over 5000km but the great PK tour of 2006 is coming to an end.
did a whirlwind tour of the okanagan. 48 hours, 1200km, 20km of sketchy-ass-snow-covered-coquihalla highway, 4 pks and 8 shop visits. not bad huh? oh and i managed to squeeze in a little roadside nap by the lake. hence the contrails picture.
came back to the girlfriends shiny new macbook pro. got it all ready for her, now just gotta wait for her to clean up her noisy ass PC so i can transfer everything over. i’ll be glad when that thing’s shut down. it was like a jet engine starting up everytime that thing was turned on. blech.
of course now that my work has slowed down, the girlfriend’s has picked up. she’s been up working late every night and there’s tons of lost and amazing race on the tivo that we need to catch up on. can’t tonight cause its world tour. hopefully attendance will be good but i’m not holding my breath. email marketing just isn’t going to pull in the crowds in my opinion.
oh and i’m not looking forward to listening to heavy metal all night.

that’s what’s happening to me. my butt is expanding like a pancake due to hours upon hours of sitting on my ass driving, interspersed with excessive pizza and beer consumption while entertaining the masses.
right now, i’m sitting on said ass while waiting for a ferry to take me across the arrow lakes so i can get to revelstoke for another session of pizza and beer. nelson was fun though. packed the trip a little tighter which meant less down time so it seemed to go by quicker which was a bonus.
last night was the premiere for some biking video so we all adjourned to the bar afterwards for some fun. and let me be the first to say that jagerbombs suck ass.
the driving has been mellow. no snow on the passes yet but took a drive up to whitewater and it was snowing in the parking lot so the buzz is definitely happening. it was so cold i had to bust out the down jacket for the first time this season.
ps. what’s with dogs and their affinity for licking raw denim?

just returned from a whirlwind tour of the okanagan. on the plus side, the weather was beautiful, the people were nice and fun times were had. the bad part? i was working.
in old school arena rock transition, this tour was named the “no fucking pizza tour”.

uhhhh…yeah. that line was heard while driving through Burlington, VT this past weekend in a rented mini-van with Quebec plates. other things to remember?
-”ohhhhhh…cock”
-tasmanian devil vomiting
-”qu’est ce que fuck? are you dead?”
-”south jersey, not north jersey”
the whole crew shut down the office and headed out east to chill for Jake’s Fall Bash.

ah yes…squampton. we managed to head out there for a little hike this past weekend. not that big a deal right? well except for the girlfriend doesn’t hike. so what better way to get her into it by starting with one of the more challenging casual hikes. i had to keep telling her that “sak’s is having a big sale at the top”. it worked but it definitely didn’t impact our speed much seeing as how we were passed by (apart from the regular hikers):

| is this the start of something? last weekend went out on a steph’s dad’s boat for the afternoon. this weekend, my brother decided to surprise the family with his new powerboat. bastard. its pretty damn spiffy though.
we ended up going for a little tootle around howe sound and ended up lounging in the only pocket of sun hovering over bowen island. not a bad way to spend an afternoon although pounding through some heavy swells at 30 knots didn’t really sit to well with mom. pops was impressed though.
unfortunately, my brother was only able to get moorage in richmond so going out in the boat resembles a game of frogger on the fraser river dodging deadheads. |
