i managed to get most of my christmas shopping done this past weekend. impulse shopping at its finest, however recent developments have made me quite nervous about santa’s delivery system.
but the big news is that i’m most excited about…for the first time ever in vancouver, somebody wished me “Happy Kwanzaa“!!! how dope is that. friendly guy running the parking kiosk out in kits. however i’m a little pissed at my self cause i was so stunned i could only mutter out “uhhh…thanks…”. doh!
its still well over a month away yet the malls are already packed to the rafters with rabid shoppers. has the world gone crazy? this past weekend, the girl and i had to brave the mall to find her dad a birthday present so we ended up at metrotown. sheesh! i should’ve brought body armour. luckily we were on a mission and got in and out pretty quick.
but today i ended up in guildford mall for some work related activities and it was just as crazy and it was like 1:00 on a thursday afternoon. wtf?!?!
i think i’m going to pledge not to buy any presents for people from a mall this year.
but a limited exclusive dork… i got them today. go me. 1 of 20 pair in vancouver.
but now the question is…do i rock them or flip em on ebay. they’re fetching a pretty hefty price right now…
since i’m now sitting on my ass on the aforementioned ferry i thought i’d update on some recent shopping.
we went to seattle last week for thanksgiving dinner with my family and did some shopping in seattle beforehand. i was on a mission to find jeans but no luck. the girlfriend found too many things but cut back and bought a APC toque as consolation. its pretty nice but $82 USD for a beanie? that’s insane. sorry.
got back to vancouver and picked up my long awaited g-star radar rope narrow’s. super stoked on them. that with the earnest sewns i got a few weeks ago and i finally have some nice denim to rock around.
just before i left on this trip i received a surprise gift of a pair of Nike Court Force in a grey ostrich, white leather and copper patent leather. they’re pretty dope.
but i’ve also just found out that the girlfriend went shopping while i’m away and picked up a couple pairs of Vans Vaults and a pair of APC jeans. so the denim arms race continues and i’ll have to one up her. i might cave and get a black Crate Denim.
oh and its been a mission to find the “dia de los muertos” dunks. seems nobody in vancouver is getting them and the 11/1 drop date is fast approaching and i’m running out of connects. grrrrrrr….
been up in whistler working the turkey sale for the past couple days (yeah that’s right, one night at home then on the road again). so i just had to get this out:
if you’re going to buy a board based purely on graphics, come out and fucking admit it and don’t waste yours and my time pretending you give a shit about the performance.
on a positive note…mmmmm…..sushi village sake margs…drool…
so in browsing the georgia straight last friday, i found out that L2 carries Rare. and they have those jeans in my size. but guess what?!?! $410!!! $80 more than Basquiat. WTF?!?! total scammers. little bitches. i can’t bring myself to support a shop like that.
doing a little shopping the other day and ended up at Basquiat in yaletown. last time i was there i found the dopest pair of lindeberg pants. of course it was the last pair and wasn’t my size. been looking everywhere, including online, ever since and…nothing.
this time i found the dopest pair of denims by a brand called “RARE”. leather trims, antique tarnished copper buttons, resin baking, selvedge. just super dope. of course, last pair, not my size. initial internet research turns up…nothing. goddammit…help!!!!
i think for my own sanity, i’m never shopping there again.
| is this the start of something? last weekend went out on a steph’s dad’s boat for the afternoon. this weekend, my brother decided to surprise the family with his new powerboat. bastard. its pretty damn spiffy though.
we ended up going for a little tootle around howe sound and ended up lounging in the only pocket of sun hovering over bowen island. not a bad way to spend an afternoon although pounding through some heavy swells at 30 knots didn’t really sit to well with mom. pops was impressed though. unfortunately, my brother was only able to get moorage in richmond so going out in the boat resembles a game of frogger on the fraser river dodging deadheads. |
