wall-e

eeee heee heee heee…. (that’s me giggling like a little school girl)

went to see wall-e on saturday night. so good. i saw one of the first trailers for the movie i think almost a year or more ago now and i was instantly struck with how cute wall-e the robot was. as more and more trailers came out i became even more convinced at how great this movie was going to be. by the time the movie opened my expectations were sky high… and i was not let down.

not just a kids movie but just a great movie with amazing characters and a timeless love story. the animation is incredible. love the underlying conservation theme and the fat humans. go see it, you’ll love it.

being a mac fan i have to point out some little bits of trivia

- wall-e makes the mac startup sound after he’s been recharged
- eve’s neck has that same rotating bar pattern that you see when you first boot your mac
- eve’s design was partially by Jonathan Ive, the mac industrial designer
- the voice of Otto is the voice from the old Mac text-to-speech program

damn lies and statistics

decided to check up on my site stats today because i’m bored. and i actually found out some interesting things. like:

- the #1 search term that brings people here? “magnetbox and sorny” my simpsons dorkiness has found usefullness on the interwebs

- about 70% of you peace out after one viewing. sorry i bore you. to the other 30%, thanks for caring. i can feel the love.

- a lot of you also seem to come from my girlfriend’s blog. guess you got a bit of a shock huh? you should tell her to put a warning on the link.

- and only one other person besides me is looking at my site via an iphone! wtf?!? get on the program man!

load off

been a bit of a stressball of late. multiple life things going on combined with some fairly intensive projects at work. one of which passed a big milestone yesterday. completed my first producer credit for a green screen shoot for a big web project i’m working on.

having only been on set before, i never realized all the logistical stuff that i had to organize this time around. ended up with 18 people on set only 4 of who were talent. needless to say, staying on budget was pretty tough. but now that its over its a big relief.

it turned out all really good though. the day started off a little rough. the first scene, the talent just couldn’t nail his lines even with the leeway to improv. ended up doing over 20 takes for the first scene and then 18 for the second scene. put us almost 2 hours behind schedule but somehow we managed to pull it together and get it done in time. so now into post-production. i’ll post the link once its live.

political activism

this is still really making me angry. mad enough that it will actually, for the first time ever, move me to take part in the political process. i rarely vote, especially civic elections, but i will vote over this issue and may even email my local MPs about it. goddamn lobbyists…

the perils of hdtv

i’m currently in between houses and so we’re house sitting in a place with a 20 inch LCD tv. i brought my PS3 with me as one of my ‘essentials’ so i could keep playing GTA4. well that plan has gone to pot.

apparently having a ginormous HDTV masks the failing eyesight that comes with old age. trying to play GTA4 on this tiny tv means i have to sit like 3 feet away from the screen to be able to see the map or read the cell phone messages. bah.

oh and in case you didn’t know, if you move your ps3 to a new tv with different inputs you will be left scratching your head trying to figure out how to change your video settings blind since nothing appears on the new screen. seems the ps3 doesn’t gracefully degrade the video signal. it just keeps pumping out the last used video setting even if it doesn’t work or the cable is no longer connected. gave me quite the scare cause i thought i broke the thing during the move.

luckily the interwebs came to the rescue. hold the power button down for a long time until it beeps a second time. that should reset your video settings. now you know.
