bull in a china shop?

good god i love mythbusters. this one tests the classic myth about the classic saying “like a bull in a china shop”

the little details

the little details

who’d a thunk it…or in a more grammatically correct sentence…who would have thought that a small detail like how a button is sewn onto a shirt could be so damn cool.

this little extravagant detail courtesy of bespoke shirt maker Seize Sur Vingt.

math is good for something after all…

math is good for something after all...

what makes women beautiful according to mathematicians? apparently a waist to hip ratio of 0.7. see here.

actually this post is just an excuse to post of picture of jessica alba and annoy my girlfriend. hehe.

oh and for guys its apparently 0.9. with my developing belly i think i’m at 2.0. whoops. gonna have to do something about that.

ikea hacking

ikea hacking

so when you’ve got designer tastes on an ikea budget, what do you do? resort to ikea hacking. needed a new medicine cabinet and found an entertainment unit that had the right dimensions and matching cabinet doors but they used frosted glass instead of mirror. so i got some mirror glass custom cut, pried apart the original frame and replaced it and voila…stoked.

turns out there’s a website devoted to this sort of thing at ikeahacker.blogspot.com

bard on the beach

bard on the beach

we had tickets to go see bard on the beach and it was one of the more surreal experiences i’ve had. a little worried about the weather in the morning but it turned out great. the show was good, the actors played up the comedic parts of the play but what made it a crazy experience was the goings on outside the venue.

in case you don’t know, BOTB is setup in a park under tents that are open to the elements behind the stage. well on this particular saturday evening, vancouver’s finest were quite busy with some sort of disturbance that required a police helicopter with searchlights doing circles over english bay.

so imagine if you will, shakespeare being performed by actors in designer jeans on a italian village stage set while the helicopters thump overhead with searchlights scanning the vancouver skyline behind the stage. weird.

OMG LOLZ (ironically poignant)

my birthday’s coming up…anybody?…pretty please?…

expensive shipping

now i don’t feel so bad about shipping charges on ebay after finding out how much the us government spent to ship a few $1.31 screws to iraq.

on the other hand, maybe those rumored “black-ops” groups do exist and this is how they’re funded…

looking forward to

looking forward to

oh yeah…since i’ve been to quite a few movies in theatres lately so i’ve seen a lot of trailers and there’s a couple that actually look interesting.

the kingdom – this one caught my eye mostly because michael mann is attached to the project. the trailer has that same kind of feel as traffic or syriana. its got that yellow tint, shaky cam, but its also kind of the first movie i can think of to be set in the current middle east chaos.

american gangster – this movie looks like a nice epic tale. my only beef is that denzel washington is in it. he’s like robert deniro with his one look. the outraged, head trembling, spittle spewing jowls flapping look. i’m not sure if my interest in the movie will outweigh my dislike for denzel.

war – this looks interesting solely because of jason statham. he’s just a good action star.
