why does it have to be so hard? i’m talking about connecting modern consumer electronics. i’ve had several friends and family acquire new tv’s, dvd players and other assorted consumer electronics recently and each and every one of them has contacted me for help in setting up their new gear. they’re all intelligent people. they’re not techno-newbies. yet somehow, the electronics industry has made it impossible for normal people to use the equipment they’ve spent thousands of dollars on. it doesn’t have to be this way!

the police were in full effect at the richmond night market this past weekend. busting vendors left and right for counterfeit goods. however, the question is…how do they decide which vendors to bust? most of the vendors have some counterfeit/knock off wares available yet only one or two get busted. the particular instance i witnessed was for some fake coach handbags with their distinctive c pattern. yet no more than two stalls away were knock off billabong hats or puma bags. there wasn’t the copious amounts of LV, Fendi and Prada bags this past weekend due to the presence of the 5-O but i’m sure that the busts were just part of an early show of force and in a few weeks everything will be back to normal.

we’ve been spending the past few days checking out condos around town trying to find something for next year. its been a blur of smarmy salespeople, interior design slight of hand and number crunching. i was pretty stoked on the South Granville Lofts development but today we got a chance to visit the Bowman Lofts on Beatty street. and they’re pretty dope. beautiful brick, concrete and exposed timbers. unfortunately the units we were after are just out of reach. boo-erns.

are you familiar with the term “french shower” where a liberal dousing of perfume takes the place of a real water and soap shower?
well i’m about to introduce you to a new term that i’ve just created. this term is based on a real life observation that i just saw in the alley outside my house.
a “hobo shower” is when your neighbourhood dumpster diver takes an almost empty bottle of laundry detergent and liberally applies the dregs all over his clothing, inside his shoes and ballcap. squeaky clean and summer fresh.

that would not be me. recently that title would fall upon Leon. the orange cat that belongs to a neighbour. Leon likes to walk into our house either through the front door or an open window and poke his way into every corner of the house. a few days ago, i was in a strata meeting next door and he came waltzing in the window to say hello. today he decided to plop on the couch and watch Heroes with me. i’m very allergic to cats. he knows this. bastard.
