green

green

the universe has aligned against me to go green this week. during my little trip through peru, i had spent some time at a cafe in Cusco where they had this book called earth from above. it had amazing photos in it and i made a note to try and find it. well find it i did and in a monster coffee table book version which i finally broke down and bought from amazon. it showed up this week.

then a much anticipated DVD dropped this week as well. planet earth which has some of the most amazing imagery i’ve seen in a while. crazy time lapse and super duper slow-mo shots. i don’t usually watch nature shows but this one has been keeping me entertained (monkeys are funny). so anyways, shopping at costco (whose return policy rocks by the way) and there it was staring me in the face so i had to buy it.

then there’s the sorry excuse for a green initiative the canadian government announced this week.

and then i saw a picture of aston martin’s new racing team in…green.

then i was given a pair of shoes that i’ve been searching for. the adidas mark gonzales superskates in blue/yellow. blue and yellow combined make…green

its all going green…

philosphizing

came across an short interview with Seth Godin who wrote a book about when to quit and when to “stick”. haven’t read the book but this quote was especially poignant given current events in my life…

Question: Other than hindsight, how does someone know when it’s time to quit?

Answer: It’s time to quit when you secretly realize you’ve been settling for mediocrity all along. It’s time to quit when the things you’re measuring aren’t improving, and you can’t find anything better to measure.

whistler update

whistler update

been hanging out in whistler doing the festivus. arrived bright and early thursday morning for some shmoozing/riding. some highspeed burners with some skiers but it was all good.

the evening saw us at the trouble show, where despite being the title sponsor of the event, it took us over half an hour to get into our own party. sheesh. and the worst part is, the bar had been busted for being over capacity the night before resulting in them being super strict and the bar feeling vaguely empty. read more »

word of the day

today’s patois word of the day is:

Dreadnut – a coconut

blind

blind

so i was introduced to the royal magazine about two years ago and loved it but have only been able to find one other copy since. now i find out that they’ve got a website (duh) and have full PDF issues of their magazine posted. yay! i’m usually pretty good at finding things online but how i missed this i don’t know.

they’re part of the KDU collective which i’m also a fan of, especially SVSV, which i wish i could afford. oh well…

jealous

jealous

a friend of mine is vacationing in hawaii right now and send me some pictures of some dolphin playtime…jealous…

caved

i held out as long as i could but i finally caved. i’m on facebook now. look me up. however, in my defence…at least facebook doesn’t look like ass like myspace does…

addicted

addicted

goddamn me and my denim g-star obsession. had a meeting in yaletown yesterday so of course i dropped into global atomic to see what’s new. and whaddaya know…some new jeans that i’m in love with. the “officer radar narrow” but i’ve decided i’m going to go back and talk to warren (the owner) and see if he can special order me another pair that i’ve been lusting after since last fall. stupid g-star and their gazillion shipping windows a year. they’re going to be the death of me….

lazy

lazy

you know you’re life is boring when you can’t come up with anything to write about on a daily basis but instead have to come up with the recap…

the past week consisted of:

dinner at Baru for my brother’s birthday. great food, crappy service.

dinner at Chianti’s with the girlfriend’s parents. really not that good anymore.

shopping trip to seattle. gorged myself on the bacon n cheese ciabatta burger at Jack in the Box at 9AM (which i just found out clocks in at 1120 calories for the sandwich alone…oeuf). spent too much money at Ian on a pair of g-stars and a unis shirt. (they were on sale!). lusted after a insane pair of Paul Smith pants at Barneys.

watched “Letters From Iwo Jima“. really really good.

easter dinner at the parents where i got my ass kicked at monopoly.

and that’s it apart from some working, some sleeping, some jogging, some tv watching (the blondies better win the amazing race). and the highlight of today? i gotta go grocery shopping.
