and how much do you get paid?

got the most amazing phone call today from a kind lady at one of Canada’s larger telecommunications companies. it went something like this…

- what’s your website?

- faceshots.net

- great, let me try that…hmmm, i seem to be getting westbeach

- oh really? faceshots.net?

- hmmm…let me try www.faceshots.net…oh…now i’m getting snowboard.com

- [i try it]interesting. it seems to be working fine for me.

- really? faceshots.net? what would make it not work for me? is there something different in your computer? and you’re typing faceshots.net into the google search box?

- uh no, the address bar, where web addresses go.

- oh! let me try that. oh! look at that! well thank you.

- [stunned silence as i hang up the phone]

switching

switching

as you may know from previous entries, there’s a new addition to the household. a Macbook Pro. of course, it falls upon my shoulders to do the migration from the PC to the Mac.

now i’ve done my fair of switching before, but never have i had to do it without a single high-speed port. there’s no USB 2, no firewire, no 8x DVD burner, no gigabit ethernet, just wireless. 40GB of data… great…. oh and a tempermental ftp program… even better.

oh and microsoft, eat a bag with your proprietary .pst format and your 4GB file size limit. and to the firefox/thunderbird team…thank you for making my life so much easier.

get it off! get it off!

get it off! get it off!

i got dragged out to a farm yesterday. why? because my girlfriend thought it would be a wonderful idea to drive to the country (aka South Surrey) and visit a farm (a smelly dirty place filled with diseased animals and poo everywhere) to pick up an authentic (flash frozen imported from china) pumpkin to make jack-o-lanterns. ever see the movie the matrix and the scene where Agent Smith has Morpheus tied to a chair and talks about the stink of humankind…well that’s how i feel. blah.

at least she’s a good artist and stole my idea and made “dia de los muertos” inspired pumpkins. they actually look really cool but our house still smells like rotting gourds.

while she was busy carving away, i kept myself in the halloween spirit by watching 7 episodes of Treehouse of Horror on DVD.

so with all the road time comes lots of ipod time.

P Diddy – Press Play – Should be called press eject. Its bad. I read a review that said it was catchy and good with lots of guest appearances. It was crappy and bad with lots of guest appearances.

Jurassic 5 – Feedback – Sounds like every other album they’ve put out. How about growing as artists guys?

TI – King – Pretty fun. Big, bold, in your face bragging in Dirty South style. It’ll probably get old real fast but i like it.

Team Canada – Classic Material Volume 1 – So good for epileptic white dancers. Awesome mash-up album. The Biggie over Pink Floyd track is the highlight and waaaay too short. Can’t rave about this album enough. My only complaint is the continuous “Team Canada” shout outs.

Girl Talk – Night Ripper – Another mash-up album. More polished than Team Canada. Super inventive cuts and sometimes mashed up 3 deep. Definitely worth checking out. However about 2/3 of the way through, the cuts get so short you feel like there should be a cheerleading competition going on.

Easy Star All Stars – RadioDread – Supposed to be an amazing reggae version of Radiohead. Try snoozefest. I guess i’m biased cause when i want reggae now i go dancehall Three Kings style.

Ludacris – Release Therapy – I always liked Luda cause his rhymes were just so goddamn funny. Seems like he’s grown up. The beats are still OK but its not bust-a-gut funny anymore.

The Roots – Game Theory – Yes the hype is true. As good as, if not better than Things Fall Apart and makes you forget all the crap they put out in between.

The Game – Doctor’s Advocate – Hey Game, end your beef with 50 and get him and Dr. Dre working together with you again.

Fergie – Dutchess – Sorry dear, the botox and public incontinence can’t help distract from how bad this album is.

JT – FutureSex/LoveSounds – Nice hook on the single, the rest is pretty average.

Paris Hilton – Paris – So it was so good it made you cry huh? Well i must admit that for cheesy pop there were some good hooks on the odd track but overall it only made two listens before it got punted off the iPod.

a temporary slowdown

a temporary slowdown

well things are finally starting to wind down. its been over 4 weeks and over 5000km but the great PK tour of 2006 is coming to an end.

did a whirlwind tour of the okanagan. 48 hours, 1200km, 20km of sketchy-ass-snow-covered-coquihalla highway, 4 pks and 8 shop visits. not bad huh? oh and i managed to squeeze in a little roadside nap by the lake. hence the contrails picture.

came back to the girlfriends shiny new macbook pro. got it all ready for her, now just gotta wait for her to clean up her noisy ass PC so i can transfer everything over. i’ll be glad when that thing’s shut down. it was like a jet engine starting up everytime that thing was turned on. blech.

of course now that my work has slowed down, the girlfriend’s has picked up. she’s been up working late every night and there’s tons of lost and amazing race on the tivo that we need to catch up on. can’t tonight cause its world tour. hopefully attendance will be good but i’m not holding my breath. email marketing just isn’t going to pull in the crowds in my opinion.

oh and i’m not looking forward to listening to heavy metal all night.

are we there yet?

sheesh…its been a whirlwind 36 hour home stay. got back from the kootenays on friday night just in time to make our dinner reservation at coast. delicious as always. lobster poutine…mmmmm……

then a quick little gander around downtown to pickup the 10th anniversary edition of Wallpaper magazine. pick it up. its dope.

after a much needed sleep-in, a whirlwind trip around vancouver running various errands and catching Marie Antoinette. word of advice…rent it. even the girlfriend agrees. then off to dinner at the parents place. then back home to catchup on housework and laundry and ipod updating.

and now, a quick sleep before i head off to the okanagan again for three days. sheesh

ps. my spoiled girlfriend is getting a new macbook pro. boo-urns.

recent acquisitions

since i’m now sitting on my ass on the aforementioned ferry i thought i’d update on some recent shopping.

we went to seattle last week for thanksgiving dinner with my family and did some shopping in seattle beforehand. i was on a mission to find jeans but no luck. the girlfriend found too many things but cut back and bought a APC toque as consolation. its pretty nice but $82 USD for a beanie? that’s insane. sorry.

got back to vancouver and picked up my long awaited g-star radar rope narrow’s. super stoked on them. that with the earnest sewns i got a few weeks ago and i finally have some nice denim to rock around.

just before i left on this trip i received a surprise gift of a pair of Nike Court Force in a grey ostrich, white leather and copper patent leather. they’re pretty dope.

but i’ve also just found out that the girlfriend went shopping while i’m away and picked up a couple pairs of Vans Vaults and a pair of APC jeans. so the denim arms race continues and i’ll have to one up her. i might cave and get a black Crate Denim.

oh and its been a mission to find the “dia de los muertos” dunks. seems nobody in vancouver is getting them and the 11/1 drop date is fast approaching and i’m running out of connects. grrrrrrr….

expanding ass

that’s what’s happening to me. my butt is expanding like a pancake due to hours upon hours of sitting on my ass driving, interspersed with excessive pizza and beer consumption while entertaining the masses.

right now, i’m sitting on said ass while waiting for a ferry to take me across the arrow lakes so i can get to revelstoke for another session of pizza and beer. nelson was fun though. packed the trip a little tighter which meant less down time so it seemed to go by quicker which was a bonus.

last night was the premiere for some biking video so we all adjourned to the bar afterwards for some fun. and let me be the first to say that jagerbombs suck ass.

the driving has been mellow. no snow on the passes yet but took a drive up to whitewater and it was snowing in the parking lot so the buzz is definitely happening. it was so cold i had to bust out the down jacket for the first time this season.

ps. what’s with dogs and their affinity for licking raw denim?

awol

entries will be a little sparse this month as you’ve probably noticed. not even halfway through the month and i’ve been to the okanagan, whistler and seattle. and i’ve still got a trip to the kootenays and another trip to the okanagan before the month is up. oh yeah, plus world tour and a bunch of other crapola. have you seen my fridge? its empty.

retail hell

retail hell

been up in whistler working the turkey sale for the past couple days (yeah that’s right, one night at home then on the road again). so i just had to get this out:

if you’re going to buy a board based purely on graphics, come out and fucking admit it and don’t waste yours and my time pretending you give a shit about the performance.

on a positive note…mmmmm…..sushi village sake margs…drool…
