man i wish i had a video camera in my brain that i could just download to share with you at will.

yesterday, had to do a run down to blaine to pick up a few things i ordered online. no big deal. on the way back, for some reason everybody decided to line up in one of the two lanes leading back to canada at the peace arch. i stopped in the line for about 30 seconds checking things out and decided that there was no good reason not to use the other lane other than to follow the herd. so i popped out and away i went. cars behind me followed suit. then lo and behold some self righteous asshole decides that he will use his big ass suburban to straddle both lanes preventing me from going farther. what do you think? was i wrong to use the other lane when it wasn’t closed? or was that other guy a complete asshat? i wasn’t too upset about it thought because he blocked me about 100m from the end and i had already passed about 1 km worth of cars.

and as karma points, the border guard didn’t even charge me duties or taxes on the stuff i brought back. but on a road rage related tip, today was the highlight. coming back from the beach, some surrey kids in their mom’s mini-van got a we bit antsy and decided to honk the person in front of them for driving too slow.

first funny bit? they were right beside a lady cyclist who literally jumped out of her skin and rode her bike into the sidewalk between two parked cars.

second. the person being honked slams on the brakes, jumps out of the car and starts yelling at said teenagers. “this is 30 mile zone! why you honk me! i fix you!” the girl’s comeback? “watch your language”

third. as the cars get going again, the minivan was pointed diagonally as it had tried to go around the other car before the driver got out. as such, when they started to drive off, they shot across the center line and barely missed the back bumper of an oncoming car.

wow…if only i could rewind my brain and show you…

how nike conquered skateboarding

how nike conquered skateboarding

great article on adbusters. from the article:

And the surveillance paid off. Within two years, Nike reissued the Dunk, a 1985 basketball shoe that executives discovered had been co-opted by skaters. And it kept on reissuing it

good or bad?

good or bad?

so many things go good together. peanut butter and chocolate. fish and chips. bacon and hamburgers. in fact bacon goes with pretty much anything. but how about bacon as a main course? no? ok ok, well since bacon is often the domain of breakfast, how about bacon as a cereal?

congratulations

walk the line

walk the line

can’t say i’m that familiar with johhny cash’s work, but i never heard anybody that didn’t like him. the remake he did of ‘hurt’ and the video for it was very impressive though.

so i was very impressed with this movie. joaquin and reese put on a great performance. even more amazing is that they did all the singing themselves. don’t know how much of the movie is fact versus fiction but it was a story well told. if its any indication, i liked the movie so much i downloaded a bunch of his music after.

fresh concrete… always tempts one to go scratch something into its untouched surface slowly curing in the sunlight. unfortunately, it usually amounts to something like “Kevin + Britney” or “Grad 75″ or a handprint. basically something lame. well over here on the east side, this is how we roll. in case you can’t read it (sorry, it was taken at night) it says “algebra is usefull” and “geography is fun”. note the mis-spelling of usefull, so its not like these were smart kids out to make a statement. kids these days…
