finally…a decision

finally...a decision

at last! been agonizing over a color palette for the bathroom reno for too long. tile shopping on saturday resulted in inspiration and a decision. grayscale. stealing a page out of the 07 idiom colorstory pages. now that its decided i’m stoked. i think its going to look hot.

after a certain amount of time in a relationship, you get to explore how much you can get away with. in this case, i dragged the girlfriend off to see this movie. needless to say i won’t be able to con her again so easily. apparently the ending is a ripoff of buffy the vampire slayer’s season 2 finale. sure. right.

as for me, it was ok. on par with parts 1 and 2 but not exceptional. more dialogue and character exposition than i was expecting. i think what threw me the most though was how “canadian” it looked. i definitely recognized a lot of the set locations and that distracted me a lot.

also didn’t like the way they portrayed all the random mutants. tatoos, piercing and black leather automatically means evil mutants. yeah right. how about a little variety? and of course even though they’re mutants, there’s still all the nameless henchman that get obliterated before the big boss. should make a seamless transition to a video game. sheesh.

i’m gonna have to say, wait for the dvd.

back in the day

back in the day

got sent a link today to a video on the cbc that made me all nostalgic. a news clip from 1985 up at mt. seymour about the newfangled sport of snowboarding.

my first day snowboarding was just after christmas in 1987.

my brother had just come back from australia where he had tried snowboarding and insisted

motorola razr pt 2

this super weird freaky dude manages to get his hands on the successor to the RAZR and posts a crapload of pics interspersed with naked chicks. anyways, its called the Canary for now and its basically a narrower RAZR. i like it.

as anybody who eats with me me knows…i love noodles. so i don’t know how i never ventured into Sha Lin Noodle house on Broadway before (especially considering its like 3 blocks away from work). all authentic northern chinese handmade noodles. nice and chewy and hearty, not like some of the crazy light rice noodles you get a lot. definitely headed back there again.

the mighty home of the despot actually came through for me yesterday. i had originally ordered some faux-wood blinds for the house back in early may. supposed to be a two week delivery. well a week later they called me and said the blinds were backordered and they’d be an additional two weeks and did i want to wait. so i figured i’d wait it out.

well when they didn’t call last week to tell me my blinds were in, steph called ‘em up and they said july 9. needless to stay i was less than stoked on roasting to death in my own house for an extra month. so off to home depot we go and after 2 hours of negotiations with the clerk and the manager, i got them to upgrade me to real wood blinds (although in a different color) for only a small upcharge and they’re instock. so i’m supposed to go pick up the blinds tonight and hopefully it’ll all work out.

good eats

good eats

mom’s birthday yesterday. took her out to coast for dinner. first time back since last summer and boy, it was just as good as i remember it.

started off with the seafood sampler platter which was crazy. all kinds of scallops, lobster, crab and watercress salad, clams and mussels in this crazy basil lime something broth (descriptive huh?) that ended up being the sessioned by everyone as dipping sauce for their bread.

for dinner, my mom freaked out over the king crab gnocchi which i had last time (yup its good). i tried out the prosciutto wrapped halibut with the prawn ravioli. oeuf that was good. the girl tucked into a lobster marscapone grilled cheese sandwich with lobster poutine (which was surprising given she’s not a seafood fan) but she liked it. i snuck in a few bites and i can say that its a good time.

now if only i could afford to eat there more often.

oh yeah, that bruce villanch guy was at the table next to us. talk about one look. i don’t think that dude has changed his hair/glasses/shirt in like 15 years.
