a collection of run on sentences mostly about travel, fashion, technology, formula 1, design and anything else that this worker bee in the vancouver ad industry feels like rambling on about
the shortage of books in my house is starting to affect me. i think after growing breasts from reading the devil wears prada, i think my testicles have shrunk after reading this one. but i needed something to read at the beach and the girlfriend had raved about it so i brought it along.
the books was okay if a little over the top in its descriptive prose. i will give the author credit in that he really makes you believe that the story is real. of course the dvd showed up on the kitchen table the other night and boy did that suck. lets just leave it at that.
wired magazine has a nice little story about the new rail line being built linking china and tibet. the new rail line is now the highest train in the world at some 16000 ft about sea level. the article itself is a mix of adventure travel writing and technology reporting.
having taken a high altitude train through the peruvian andes i can just imagine what this one would be like. something oddly attractive about such a remote and desolate place too. tibet is on my list of places to visit, so one day…
wow! burton picked up channel island surfboards today. not being a surfer it doesn’t really matter that much to me but it gives me an excuse to put up a surf shot. read the press release after the jump.

71 inches of HD plasma goodness…anybody got a spare $60k they wanna give me? please? pretty please with sprinkles on top?
which is just why reading the new yorkers guide to urban etiquette is amusing/useful. learn how to handle situations like the correct way to steal a cab, how to acknowledge obvious cosmetic surgery, what to do with your ipod in a variety of situations, whether or not its necessary to ask for permission before lighting a joint, etc.
hmmmm….hint about the capabilities of the upcoming ipod revisions?
iPod will be introducing a voice command mechanism and a gesture interface that uses movement to select songs or adjust volume. Apple has also filed a patent on a capability to change the tempo of music based on the pace of the listener’s activity.
yeah…getting old sucks. the old synapses aren’t quite firing like they used to. luckily the reason i haven’t written anything for a couple days is because outside of the real world, all my internet time has been spent on this little brain teaser. strangely addictive but i swear it makes you smarter as you play.
simple concept, connect the colored dots without crossing lines. but of course things get progressively more difficult. 30 levels in all, i got stumped on 19 and 23 for quite a while but eventually got em all. the end is a little anti-climactic though.
i have this love/hate thing with the summer. love it because its all sunny and warm and bright. girls have ditched all their winter overcoats for light strappy things. patios, beaches, beer, bbqs, all the usual great things about summer. hate it because it means allergy season and boy does that suck. normally whatever i’m allergic to seems to be at its worst during april but for some reason yesterday turned out to be a particularly heinous attack.
so i ditched work so i could go home and stuff toilet paper up my nose. just call me “plugs”. well when you’re in as much discomfort as i was and have difficulty breathing due to mucousy blockages, sleep doesn’t really come easily so i had to find ways to occupy my time.
nothing was on tv, i was all internet-ed out and all the books in my possession worth reading have been read at least twice. so i turned to the girlfriends collection. mostly shopping and fashion books but she did have two actual works of fiction. memoirs of a geisha and the devil wears prada. i decided on the latter since she was still reading memoirs. i think i grew breasts by the time i was finished the book.
(what you wanted a book review? pfft. go pick up a new yorker or something)
ha! i called it this past winter. the metrosexual is out, macho is in. and everything on the web is true right? right?
everybody is sick of carson and those queer eyes guys now and when mainstream advertising picks up on it you know its on. i mean there’s the burger king “manthem” then miller lite’s man laws.
i think lady boys will be the next trend after the macho thing runs its course.
