boeuf update

boeuf update

so after much trial and error i think i’ve got the basic site tweaking down. i’ve learned way too many wordpress tags and css crap but as a result i’ve managed to get randomly rotating graphic banners. tweaked a buttload of little annoyances. got RSS working now. got the itunes section running although it still needs some tweaking. enabled pingbacks and all kinds of other geeky goodness. now where’d i put that pocket protector…

WordPressDash

Found a tasty little widget that allows me to quick post off the Dashboard in os X. I’ll try it for a while and see how it compares to Ecto for my desktop blogging needs.
Update: not gonna work for me. can’t handle images. boo-erns

…despite the fact that i’m writing about soccer balls here. this is different, cause this time the soccer ball has been transformed into a work of art AND its being auctioned off for charity. a store called Pool in germany has gotten 13 designers to do their take on the soccer ball. heads like maharishi, dsquared2, acne jeans, dries van noten, etc. all up for sale on ebay. my favorite is the alexander mcqueen one though. hot.

apparently nike’s got some slip-ons in the pipeline.

izze

izze

recent discovery. its a good time. izze beverage company. its kind of like a high end all natural koala springs i think. so far i’ve tried the clementine, grapefruit and pear (the shizz). cool looking graphics on the bottle too (isn’t that how we all make our purchasing decisions?). available at capers and whole foods. oh and apparently the sell them at starbucks but i wouldn’t know cause i don’t drink coffee. blech.

dutil

dutil

new shop in gastown that opened up recently. called “dutil”. its a denim only store run by a guy who used to work at richard kidd. its got a great selection of high end denim including the usual hot brands but also some J Brand, Joes, Hudson, Loomstate, Levis but also my new favorite, Konzo. the red chainstitch down the side…so money. now if only i could scrounge up $750+tax for them…

but more important than the brands they carry was their merchandising…H-O-T. they had bales (literally big tied up blocks) of old jeans. they had rolled up old jeans neatly tucked away into racks. original wood floor. you know the instant you look inside that you’re in for denim paradise.

they had their big grand opening party last weekend, lets hope they do well. dutil. 303 W. Cordova, Vancouver, BC.

a friend turned me onto these guys a little while ago with their “get ‘em high remix” of kanye’s track. since then they’ve been in constant rotation. the album has been out for a while but its still good.

there’s their self titled album (itunes) with the super hot track “seventeen years”. (i had actually come to like this track last year not knowing what it was when it was featured on a burton fashion show) the album itself is just music, no lyrics and best described as guitar driven electro? i dunno. i’m not good with labels. could almost qualify as soundtrack music? but being more of a hiphop kid, i gravitate more towards their “remixes vol 1″ album. taking some fun hiphop tracks and mixing in their guitar riffs. writing about it makes it sound weird but the sonic result is dope. there’s remixes of kanye, jay-z, missy, dizzee, beanie siegel, raekwon. good shit.

oh and they’ve got a new album dropping in august. can’t wait.

eat vancouver

eat vancouver

mmmmmm….i ate so much i think i’m gonna barf. i swear even though it was very simply laid out, we kept missing things, it was like Harry Potter and that damn alley that just appears out of nowhere. must have lapped that place like 4 times.

on the paid food tip, the chicken gyros at the greek place were amazing, as were the tacos from “the mouse and bean” (what an awesome name). the butter chicken from maurya is pretty damn good too. avoid at all costs the calamari from the shark club…gag… apparently the pineapple sorbet in the pineapple shell is good but i think its kinda suspect and gimmmicky. the beer and wine tasting place blows ass chunks.

on the free sample tip, i must say i was very impressed with the meatless nuggets from Schneiders. i could snack on those all day. and time it right to get the mussels from the spa place. the Izze drinks are pretty damn tasty too. the pear one…wow. but the highlight was definitely my good man Tojo. too bad he wasn’t cooking samples for everyone and damn him for making me want a $1000 knife.

oh and my poor SLVR hit the concrete floor of BC Place today. first dent.

off to whistler for the day. i love the crew up at showcase. my peeps from back in the day. nice to see ali and christian working hard at practicing on the tech deck park that jay has so lovingly built every year. turns out he made an absolutely hillarious video. good enough to get him sponsored i think. managed to squeeze in a delicious splitz burger…drool….

can’t say i’m too stoked on the construction on the highway though. grrrrrr…. love sitting in the van for an hour and 15 minutes while they do whatever it is they do. the lineup going the other way had to have been like 10km long. it was retarded. and they’ve taken a new tactic on road signs. in case you can’t read it the sign says “please drive safely, my daddy works here, sarah and emily”. maybe i’m just a heartless bastard but i think that’s pretty cheesy.
